Welcome to the Connected Film Festival! We are the third generation online film festival of top Tampa Bay indie film resource web site Indie Film Auteur. This online film festival is a stand-alone, independent web site which is assoicated with both the Tampa Bay Film and other web sites.
Tampa Bay Film launched in January, 2007, and the web site had an extensive first generation online film festival featured within the site. The original Tampa Bay Film Online Film Festival was incredibility successful, and it became the top Tampa online film festival. In those early days of 2007, the original Tampa Bay Film Online Film Festival was so popular, and so effective for Tampa filmmakers, that it eliminated a competing online film festival and made their backers return to the drawing boards and eventually abandon it. The Tampa Bay Film Online Film Festival became the dominate online film festival in the Tampa Bay indie film market, and it successfully competed with Tampa film festival events. We've never looked back.
In early 2008, Tampa Bay Film decided to develop the next generation of its wildly successful online film festival. It was decided to improve upon what had been proven to work, and to trim away what didn't. It was also decided to make the next Tampa Bay Film Online Film Festival a stand-alone web site, independent of Tampa Bay Film, although highly interconnected with Tampa Bay Film and locked into a symbiotic relationship with the main Tampa Bay Film web site.
In October of 2008, the second generation Tampa Bay Film Online Film Festival web site was finally completed and launched. Tampa Bay Film, and the Tampa Film Showcase web site, redirected all their online film festival controls and links to this site. Since Tampa Bay Film and Tampa Film Showcase already had the top web traffic of any Tampa indie film web site in the Tampa indie film industry, with thousands of visitors on a daily basis, the new Tampa Bay Film Online Film Festival site instantly had record-breaking traffic. We had the full support of the top Tampa indie film web sites.
We were so interconnected to Tampa Bay Film that our stand-alone web site remained invisible for marketing purposes. All marketing for the Tampa Bay Film Online Film Festival was through Tampa Bay Film, as we were their online film festival and the exclusive one accessed through the main Tampa Bay Film site. Tampa Bay Film also owned, updated, and maintained its Tampa Bay Film Online Film Festival.
The second generation online film festival of Tampa Bay Film was extremely successful, even more so than the original, and ran from 2008 to 2012. It had more traffic and views than all of the film festivals in Florida, combined.
In 2012, despite the online film festival being very popular and effective, Tampa Bay Film was moved to a new web site under the Tampa Bay Independent Film domain name, with the Tampa Bay Film domain name used to market the new domain name where the site was now located. The plan was to move and integrate the online film festival onto the new site, migrating much of the current content, but to do that, the online film festival had to be taken down and then moved. It was taken down, but the move was delayed, and the third generation online film festival was in limbo for the next ten years.
As the years went by, we created the Connected Film Festival branding and domain names for the third generation online film festival, which continued to evolve from lessons learned from the last incarnation. It was decided to turn Tampa Bay Film into three web sites for independent film in Tampa Bay. The Tampa Bay Independent Film domain name which hosted Tampa Bay Film was to become Tampa Bay Independent Film, a new web site using what was established over ten years, Tampa Bay Film would be relaunched as a vintage web site with new tactics and content under its original domain name, and Tampa Bay Indie Film, a brand new, advanced web site, was in development. Those, of course, were regional independent film resource web sites. The main web site over all of these is the all-new Indie Film Auteur and an armada of new support web sites, including Florida Film Review.
Development of the new online film festival, the Connected Film Festival, continued on, with no plans to integrate a comprehensive online film festival into any of the regional independent film web sites.
The Connected Film Festival launched in October, 2023, ten years after it began development from what was established before, and it launched with some independent films and content from the Tampa Bay Film Online Film Festival.
The Connected Film Festival is a free online film festival for anyone, anywhere. Although we give Tampa indie films priority, we will show indie films submitted to us from anywhere in the world, as we rationalize that, at the very least, non-Tampa indie films can serve as inspiration for Tampa indie filmmakers.
That's a great thing!
It is our intention to become the perfect platform for Tampa filmmakers, and talented filmmakers everywhere, for presenting indie films, marketing indie films, and promoting indie films. There are some other things in the works that will be truly revolutionary, which we are excited about, but we can't disclose what we are working on or how it will work, yet. This online film festival is only one component of a massive master plan that will change Tampa indie filmmaking forever! Let's just say that great things are coming for Tampa indie filmmakers in the future.
